On Dorset Coastal Path

Anne was brought up in the home of her grandfather, C H Chapman, the painter and illustrator - best known for the Billy Bunter books and comics. Surrounded by paintings and drawings, she watched her grandfather work.

Training as a nurse in St Bartholmew's Hospital, she enjoyed visiting many galleries and exhibitions throughout London.

She moved to the village of Bridge of Allan, in Scotland with her husband, where they brought up five children. Whilst there she attended the inspirational classes of Lys Hansen, painter, and became familiar with the work of the Scottish painters.

When they moved back to England thirteen years later she studied Art and Design at Winchester School of Art, graduating with BA (Hons).

Together with five other Winchester graduates she set up Roake Farm Studio in Broughton, Hampshire.

Studying under John Skinner at his Abbotsbury Studios was a revelation and transfomed her attitude to, and understanding of painting.

She views her painting as an integral part of a life that involves travel, yoga and regular meditative walks with her dog in the countryside.
